This full moon is what is known as a blue moon, which happens when there are two full moons within one month.
Through ritual acts, drumming and sharing, we open up an experience that invites reflection and growth. This is an evening where we seek insight into ourselves and our surroundings, while we celebrate the warmth of community.

This is a unique opportunity to take part in a ceremony that brings us closer to the rhythms of nature and to our own inner balance. Come on your own, bring the family or invite friends, everyone is welcome!
The event will be held indoors in our lavvu on Vikran, and it can still be chilly, so dress for the weather. If the weather allows, we will be outdoors.
Feel free to bring a drum or rattle if you have one, and something to eat that can be shared around the fire when we move into the social part.
The event is open to everyone and is free of intoxicants.

About the chaga ceremony
The chaga ceremony is a sacred and transformative experience. Chaga is a mushroom with long traditions here in the north, and it is known in itself for being good for your health. It is not hallucinogenic, but it has an uplifting effect on mind and body. In a ceremonial setting you get to meet the chaga spirit in what many would describe as a deeply healing ceremony.
Kyrre, who will lead the ceremony together with Gunnar, is the one who conceived this ceremony and later introduced it to the shamanic community. He describes the story of how the ceremony came about like this;
How did the chaga ceremony come about?
"When I first came across chaga around 2004, it had largely fallen out of use on the Norwegian side of Sápmi. I started discussing and asking about chaga with a lot of people, especially within the Sámi community. This led to a calling for me and others to reintroduce chaga into the Sámi community. Later I learned that the use of chaga was still alive on the Russian side of Sápmi.
By drinking chaga tea regularly, I discovered that it strengthens spiritual gifts such as psychic powers, clairaudience and empathic abilities. And I began to understand that chaga must have been used ceremonially. Historical traces were found in Nenets traditions, where it was used in healing rituals, and among the Khanty, who used it as incense in rituals.
I consulted a Sámi noaidi from Loppa in Finnmark, who offered to help facilitate a ceremony where we could ask the chaga spirit how a chaga ceremony should be carried out.
The chaga ceremony came into being in 2008 during a three-day ceremony in Finnmark. The ceremony was first held publicly in 2010 at the Isogaisa shaman festival. This ceremony was also released freely, so that anyone who wants to can perform it, as long as they do not charge for it.
