Past events

There is much stirring in the cosmic realm this August. On Wednesday 12/8 we will experience a total solar eclipse (at 18:49 in Bodø) just before the Black Moon. Powerful forces that directly affect life here on earth.

In stillness we gather at Saltstraumen and allow ourselves to feel the forces of nature, right between high and low tide and the tension that builds up before the moon covers the sun's dazzling light and leaves the earth shadowed for a brief while.

Throughout the ages, fishermen and the people along the coast have lived by the rhythm of nature. The world's strongest maelstrom and one of the most powerful tidal currents mirrors the phases of the moon and is at its strongest during new and full moon, showing us what it means to call in, reset and let go.

There will be no bonfire or drumming on this day, but a calm gathering where we turn inward, allowing ourselves to sense our surroundings and what stirs both within us and in the forces of nature around us. The solar eclipse offers a rare space to pause; the sun can be a symbol of our consciousness and creative power, and when it is shadowed by the moon moving from black to waxing phase, our two greatest and most beloved celestial bodies give us an opportunity for total stillness, before the light again gives us the strength to take the steps we know are not only right for us, but necessary.

Like the fish that knows its strength, knows its inner compass and knows its time to swim against or follow the currents, we too can find inner guidance to navigate onward on our own path.

Dress warmly and according to the weather, bring something to sit on and perhaps something warm to drink. There will be space for sensing down by the rocks and the current, with a walk up Saltstraumbrua for those who wish to feel the current beneath them.

Welcome to this gathering/walk, with ceremony leader for Sjamanistisk forbund, Maria Seivaag.

Meeting point at the large car park by Saltstraumbrua at 18:00
