Not everyone has the opportunity to attend our public ceremonies, yet you can easily connect to the group energy by creating your own simple ceremony at home.
A Simple Owl Moon Ceremony for the Home
A ceremony for connecting to the owl's wisdom and to the light in the darkness. If you perform this at the same time as our public ceremonies, you also connect to the collective power of that ceremony.
Preparations Find a quiet place where you can sit undisturbed. Have a candle, a feather (or another symbol of an owl, or use your hand shaped like a talon). If you have a drum, rattle, or music, this can be used during the ceremony.
- Preparing the sacred space
Cleanse the area by walking around with incense, an essential oil spray, or by visualising the room filled with light. Sit comfortably and take a few deep breaths. Say: "I open this space to invite wisdom, stillness, and light in the darkness."
- Welcome and intention Light your candle and hold your hand like an owl's talon in front of you. Say: "I greet the energy of the owl, the guardian of wisdom. I open myself to clarity, keen sight, and protection."
Reflect for a moment on what you wish to see more clearly in your life, or what you need strength to face.
- Drumming and opening the heart energy Use a drum, rattle, or clap your hands in a steady rhythm. If you have no instruments, you can put on drumming music. While you make the sound, hold the "owl talon" over your heart and visualise your heart as a glowing flame. Say: "I open my heart to the wisdom that comes in the stillness."
Keep drumming or listening to the sound, let your thoughts grow quiet, and be present in the moment.
Sharing If you wish, you can write down the insights or feelings that came to you during the drumming. This is your own time to reflect.
Closing When you feel finished, give thanks for the energy that has been present. Say: "I close this sacred space and carry the owl's wisdom onward with me. May I walk with clarity, strength, and protection."
Put out the candle with a feeling of gratitude.
