This weekend, 17 participants gathered at Alternativt & Spirituelt Læringssenter in Stavanger to explore the forces of nature through the course "Deeper Connection to the Elements", organized by Sjamanistisk Forbund. At the course, participants had a rare opportunity to immerse themselves in shamanic practice inspired by both Norse and Sámi tradition.
A journey through earth, water, wind, and fire
The course took participants on a transformative journey through nature's four elements. Each day built on the previous one, and through drum journeys, ceremonies, and group exercises, participants got to experience and integrate the qualities of the elements into their own lives. From the grounding power of earth, via the cleansing flow of water, the message of the wind, and the transformative energy of fire, everyone had the chance to explore both outer and inner landscapes.
Powerful experiences and deep gratitude
The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Many described the course as "a powerful spiritual experience that can bring you closer to the core of yourself" and "a fantastic course with fantastic drum journeys". Several highlighted how safely and inclusively the course leader held the space, and how important it was to be able to lean back and let oneself be led into magical worlds. One participant summed it up:
"If you really want to work in depth, this course is perfect! You just have to lean back and receive and let yourself be led into magical worlds! The understanding you gain serves you in so many ways in life! I could do this course many, many times! The course leader was so skilled and held space for everything and everyone. It felt safe and good throughout the entire course. Very grateful."
For both beginners and the experienced
The course was open to both experienced practitioners and beginners, giving everyone the chance to experience shamanic practice in safe and inspiring surroundings. Throughout the weekend, emphasis was placed on community, support, and personal development, and many participants spoke of the release of old blockages, new strength and courage, and a deeper understanding of themselves and nature.
A course with lasting effect
With this course, Sjamanistisk Forbund has once again shown how shamanic practice can provide tools and insight that last far beyond the course weekend itself. Participants took away new knowledge, powerful experiences, and a community marked by respect and openness.
The course is already in demand, and many express a wish to take part again. For those who want to explore the world of shamanism and strengthen their connection to nature, "Deeper Connection to the Elements" is a course that lives up to its name. The next course is in Trondheim, but this course is already fully booked. More courses will be scheduled for the autumn.
