Shamanic Wedding
The shamanic wedding is becoming more and more popular as a form of marriage ceremony. From Karasjok in the north to Bergen in the south, people have chosen a shamanic ceremony when they marry. The feedback has not been long in coming, either. Many choose this form of ceremony because you take an active part in it; it is not just a ceremony leader standing there giving a speech. And many choose this type of ceremony because the marriage usually takes place outdoors. From same-sex couples we have received the feedback that they choose this form of ceremony because they find an unconditional acceptance in our approach. What they all have in common is that they find the sacred in nature. A ceremony can be as simple or as grand as you yourself wish.
What does the family say?
Some people are afraid of what the family will say, especially where the family has a Christian affiliation. Our forstanders are familiar with this concern and take it seriously. Without exception, family members have given us feedback that it was a beautiful ceremony and that they liked it. Our forstanders spend a lot of time tailoring the ceremony so that it can suit everyone, without compromising on the ceremonial aspect for that reason.
The most important day
Imagine giving your yes on chalk-white sand in the northern Norwegian midnight sun. Or perhaps a sleigh ride out into the forest in winter to a lavvo with a blazing fire, reindeer hides and torches. Or your chosen one arriving on horseback, followed by friends and brothers in Viking attire with swords, and the wedding feast taking place in a real longhouse. A Viking ship comes gliding across the water on a bridal voyage. There are few limits to how your day can look; for that matter, the two of you could simply run off on your own. A midsummer wedding or one in the days between Christmas and New Year, anything is possible. It can be at the place where you met each other, or at an old ceremonial site. Sjamanistisk Forbund also has contacts who can help create the setting that makes a shamanic wedding an unforgettable day. To be married in the shamanic way is both personal and intimate.
The ceremony
Through the ceremony you prove your love for one another, before guests, family and the ancestors. You weave a braid from each other's hair, silver thread and wool as a symbol that you have chosen each other. This braid is buried at the ceremonial site. With a hand on each other's heart, you lay your breath against the other's. The pact of love is blessed by the seven directions. Together you also take seven steps around the fire that you yourselves light. With each step you make a new vow to each other, surrounded by family and friends. When you have given each other the rings, these are blessed. Love given of free will has no beginning and no end. May these rings always remind you of the vows you have made here and which we have witnessed. But it is not only the blessing of each other, family and friends that is to be given; the ancestors too will give their blessing. The ritual therefore concludes with the forstander journeying to the world of the ancestors so that they can give their blessing to your great day.

Hire a Viking ship with crew
Sjamanistisk Forbund also has an agreement with the Viking ship Prinsesse Kristina av Tunsberg that makes it possible to hire it, provided it is near water. We have a discount arrangement that gives a pleasant price of 5000,- per day including crew. In addition, you must cover the costs of transport and fuel; they have their own trailer for this. The ship's home port is in Tønsberg.
