On May 7th we could finally meet again for a full moon ceremony!
May is the month of the birch and the badger, and ceremonies were held at Årnesstranda in Feiring, in the park in Meråker, in the lean-to at Sørstrand in Florø and at Kleiveren in Sandefjord.
Forstander Cecilie Løvli Korsvoll invited people to a ceremony at Årnesstranda, and the setting around the ceremony site was newly sprung birch trees with light green leaves, lovely spring weather, sunset, and later in the evening the moon mirrored itself in Mjøsa.
Only women were present at the ceremony, and after talking about the qualities of the birch and the badger and what knowledge they can bring us, Cecilie told us what she wished to take us into during this ceremony. One of the ceremony leader's tasks is to take us into a journey, to create the conditions for healing and personal development to take place in a safe atmosphere; healing that creates lasting positive changes and inherent knowledge.
In her communication with the spirit world, in the days leading up to the ceremony, it had come to her that those of us who were to be present needed help to let go of something, and that we were all carrying something we needed help to set down.
In the drum journey we were to meet the power animal that could help us with this, and we were to be the animal, we were to dance it.
The drum journey was powerful and energetic, and the power animals came to us in the circle. We all had strong experiences and felt their presence.
After the drum journey we had a sharing time and talked about what we had experienced. I think we were all a little surprised by which animals had shown themselves to us.
We thanked them for coming to us, and for what they showed us, and we carry it onward with an intention of understanding and development.
And much was breathed into birch logs and placed in the fire that evening.
We sat around the fire at the water's edge, enjoying ourselves and talking until night drew near. It was good to finally be able to meet the flock again, and one-metre-distance hugs were shared.
How glad we are that the restrictions are easing a little and that society is gradually beginning to open up. We hope it continues like this so that we can meet for a ceremony at the next full moon too.
