Autumn Equinox and a New Beginning in Western Norway
Monday, September 22 marked the start for Sjamanistisk Forbund Vestlandet, with an atmospheric gathering at Era Lifecenter. What was meant to be two hours developed into a four-hour journey of fellowship, spirituality and new beginnings – right on the autumn equinox, when day and night stand in balance.
The evening also coincided with the new moon, a time for sowing new seeds.
A Warm Welcome. The interim board, led by Asbjørn Aamot together with Løv, Kristin and Mathilde, welcomed the 34 attendees with homemade autumn soup – 15 liters of it – made with love and symbolism. The soup ran out!
The meal became a ceremony in itself, a space for safety and fellowship.
Drum Journey and Rune Drawing
After the meal, deep drum rhythms filled the room and led the participants into a meditative state. A drum journey!
The drumming was followed by spontaneous participation – conversations, stories and song. One of the highlights was the rune drawing, led by Levi, where each participant had their rune interpreted with surprising accuracy. After that we had a collective drumming session, no wonder it took time!
A Fellowship Sprouts
The initiative has been in planning for a long time, with a clear goal: to create an inclusive space for shamanic practices in Western Norway.
The event gathered both experienced practitioners and curious newcomers, and the atmosphere carried the sense that something important had begun.
Symbolic Timing The autumn equinox and new moon gave extra weight to the occasion. Many expressed a wish to bring balance to their own lives, leave the old behind and open themselves to something new – entirely in keeping with the evening's intention.
The Way Forward As the evening drew to a close, it was with a clear message from the participants: "We want to be part of this going forward."
Together they had created more than an event – they had lit the spark of a living fellowship, carried by respect for traditions and a will to grow.
