A spiritual experience for young and old

On Friday, Sjamanistisk Forbund was present at the faith and life stance square during the Scouts' National Camp 2025. The stand drew a large number of curious scouts of all ages, and was a popular feature throughout the day. The children gathered around the tables to make their own rune jewelry, while the young people asked thoughtful questions about shamanism and the association's work.
A varied and engaging program
The highlights of the day were undoubtedly the drum journeys and sound journeys, which brought together children, young people and adults in powerful shared experiences. Sjamanistisk Forbund offered a varied program, adapted to different age groups and interests.
A lecture on shamanism and the association's work
The lecture addressed the history of shamanism as intangible spiritual cultural heritage in Norway, from ancient times to present-day practice. The participants gained insight into how shamanism has developed, and the lecture concluded with a drum journey that gave everyone a taste of shamanic practice.

Sound journey – a sensory journey through sound
The sound journey took the participants on an inner journey through the tones of ancient instruments, throat singing, joik and chanting. These ancient sound traditions were woven together into a magical tapestry of vibrations, inviting reflection and a deeper connection with oneself and one's surroundings.
Drum journey – a deep meditative practice
The drum journey, with roots in Sami tradition, allowed the participants to experience how rhythmic drumming can lead to an altered state of consciousness. The practice, known from the noaide's use of the rune drum, offers the opportunity for inner exploration and contact with spiritual dimensions. Several of the participants had taken part in drum journeys before, but even those joining for the first time said this was a new experience they would gladly repeat many times.
Creative activities throughout the day
All day long the children could make their own rune jewelry in wood or with air-drying clay, and try out shamanic drums. Young people and adults also had the chance to take home informational material and listen to a lecture on shamanism.
