The federation has also published a ceremony book that serves as a valuable resource for ceremony leaders, exploring shamanic traditions and ceremonies in depth.
Requirements and obligations
Personal suitability is a key factor in the selection of candidates. Participants are expected to have at least three years of experience with shamanism before starting the training. The programme also requires a willingness to engage in self-reflection and the ability to deal with personal challenges. It is important to note that this is not a therapy training, even though a great deal of time is spent on personal development.
The training is free, but participants must commit to serving as a ceremony leader for Sjamanistisk Forbund for at least two years after completing the training. If a participant chooses to leave before completing the training, they must cover the expenses that Sjamanistisk Forbund has incurred in connection with their participation.

Can foreign participants take part?
Yes, if you wish to start Sjamanistisk Forbund in your home country. You must also be able to understand Norwegian. It is possible to take part in the training from abroad, as the theoretical online meetings provide the flexibility to follow the teaching online. However, participants must be prepared to travel to Norway to attend the 5 gathering weekends, which are an integral part of the training. Foreign participants must expect to cover travel, food and lodging themselves, but may later have this reimbursed by their country's organisation if they succeed in getting started. Sjamanistisk Forbund Norway will of course be helpful with the start-up, but it will require considerable personal effort and administrative ability.
